The for the Fox show, which airs on FX in the UK, on the social-networking site is called 'Peter Griffin's Sex Club'. It will join the host of other applications, or "apps", being developed on Facebook for fun and increasingly for marketing purposes.
Last month, film distributor Optimum Releasing launched a promotion for teenage comedy film 'Rocket Science' through a movie-based application on Facebook.
The app is being launched to to promote the releases of 'Family Guy Season Six' on DVD. 'Family Guy', while not as popular as 'The Simpsons', has become a cult hit with its offbeat family that includes evil genius baby Stewie, who speaks with a posh English accent, and Brian the martini-drinking sophisticated dog.
It includes videoclips, humorous audio sound bites and a "poke" from the sexual deviant Quagmire. Users can also make their own trailer to embed on their profile page.
The digital campaign, created by Greenroom Digital, is supported by an online advertising campaign, including coverage in three editions of the online magazine Monkey and sponsorship of an interactive media player on Bore Me.
'Family Guy Season Six' is released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on DVD October 15 2007.
