
Vivienne Westwood and Giles Deacon are among the designers of the 70cm-tall fibreglass eggs, which will be scattered around high profile locations. Londoners will have 40 days to find them using a special map and an app that can be downloaded.
The hunt is presented by Fabergé and it aims to raise £1 million for charities Elephant Family and Action for Children as the eggs can be bought in a grand auction on 20 March, or online until 8 April.
All of the eggs will be collected together on 8 April when the winner of the hunt will be crowned.
A huge ice sculpture of a Fabergé egg was on display at the launch party on Wednesday (18 January) at 29 Portland Place, headquarters of members’ club Quintessentially.
Caterer Harbour & Jones served the 250 guests with Russian and Fabergé inspired bowl food and canapés such as roasted Tamara duck with vodka infused cherries, smoked eel and caviar soldiers with savoury duck egg custard.
