The meeting, , took place at the Macdonald Burlington yesterday (21 September).

It was facilitated by Joss Croft, Visit Britain's head of business visits and events, and Confex Group portfolio director Duncan Reid.

One of the outcomes was the decision to setup a working party this November with the intention of uniting industry bodies Eventia, AEME, ICCA and HBAA, creating a voice to help pressure government. Its strategy is hoped to be decided on by early next year.

An events calendar will also be drawn up, aimed at preventing different functions of the same kind competing.

The possibility of a Continual Professional Development (CPD) scheme was also bought up. The initiative would outline quality control criteria for companies that want to join associations.
