"It’s ambitious given the economic outlook, but the central tenet I have always enshrined into my working practices is the belief that the seemingly impossible can be overcome," he told Event. "I would not have been able to fly a hot air balloon through Tower Bridge without that mentality. I am taking that mentality forward to overcome the challenges ahead."
The new agency will be an alliance under one brand name that’s yet to be announced.
"I am going to move from being in entertainment marketing to being in entertaining marketing - to create compelling content and stories for dissemination across all marketing platforms," said Brown.
During his time as head of Beatwax, Brown produced large-scale experiential events and publicity stunts across Europe and the US.
For the 2007 launch of The Simpsons Movie, Beatwax painted a 200ft tall near-naked Homer Simpson next to the Cerne Abbas Chalk Giant and also got Homer banned from Wimbledon in the same year. For the 2009 campaign for the Disney Pixar animation Up, Brown flew hot air balloon identical to the one in the film through Tower Bridge.
"It is obviously tough to leave something you have helped to build, especially when some of the most exciting moments of my life can honestly be attributed to the work I was involved in when I was head of Beatwax," Brown said. "Not many people can claim that of their working life."
Brown said he will release more details of his new venture soon.
