The London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is still hunting for event suppliers, even though some 2012 events are poised to get underway.

The Cultural Olympiad, launching at the end of the month, arrives as rumours circulate the industry that plans to have all suppliers in place within six months.

But Event magazine can exclusively reveal that LOCOG is still in its very early stages, and the door is still open for prospective suppliers.

According to LOCOG press officer Adrian Bassett, plans are still underway for the 2012 celebrations, which include the prestigious opening and closing ceremonies. "We haven't finalised anything yet, so we are not likely to be announcing anything soon," he said.

Opportunities to get involved in the games are still advertised on the committee's website, and businesses can register online to be notified of openings in their sectors.

The Cultural Olympiad for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will kick off on 26 September with a weekend of events taking place across the country.
