The Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips has aired her views on the London Organising Committee's (LOCOG) decision to use Greenwich Park for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Zara Phillips questions plans to use Greenwich Park as Olympic venue

The park will host the equestrian and modern pentathlon events during the 2012 Games.

A temporary 23,000-seat arena will be built within the grounds of the National Maritime Museum, and will be dismantled when the Games are over, leaving no lasting legacy for the sport.

"Why don't you do it to a space that can be used with a legacy, not Greenwich Park where people walk their dogs?" the eventing world champion said in an interview with The Times

±±¾©Èü³µpk10 group No to Greenwich Olympic Equestrian Events has been rallying against the plans since they were made public.

A spokesman for LOCOG told News Shopper Online: "There is no other existing venue in the UK that can host three equestrian disciplines simultaneously to Olympic standard, and no demand for a facility to be created on a permanent basis.

"We are continuing to develop our detailed plans for Greenwich Park and we hope to meet Zara in the near future to share our plans with her."
