Worried about how to land a decent job when you graduate? Think you could beat your contemporaries in proving you have what it takes to be the perfect event organiser at one of the country’s most prestigious venues?
Well, thanks to ESP Recruitment in association with Excel London, UBM Live, Brand Events, Imagination, Bluehat and Event, this could come true if you take part in The Eventice.
The Eventice, which aims to find the best event management graduate in the country, is open to any final year student currently studying for an event management degree.
Successful applicants to The Eventice will be tested on their knowledge of the industry, their ability to cope under pressure and, most importantly, their ability to organise an event.
Those selected to take part in the competition will be split into groups and given a brief to create an event. They will then be asked to come to London for the weekend of 3-5 December to present their ideas and take part in a number of challenging event management tasks, which will be marked by a team of industry experts over the entire weekend. To help the applicants complete the tasks accommodation will be provided for the competitors in a hotel near to Excel London.
During the evening of Friday 3 December the students networking skills will be put to the test when they are tasked with identifying a number of secrets about the members of industry association, the International Special Events Society (ISES), at one of its monthly networking events to be held in Excel London.
On the second day the competitors will visit Brand Events’ Taste of Christmas show at Excel London where they will get to interview the show director, before being handed a number of challenging tasks by teambuilding firm Bluehat.
Finally on the Sunday the students will be asked to present in their groups the answers to the event brief they were given before coming to London.
These presentations will be made in front of a panel of industry experts, and at the end of the weekend this panel will choose two candidates to go through to the final, which will take place at the International Confex exhibition in Earls Court from 1-3 March.
