I got into the event industry because it’s my passion. I thrive on the excitement and buzz of it all and there really is no better feeling than watching an event that you’ve designed come to life.
I have worked here since April of last year.
I was attracted to this particular role because it was a fantastic new challenge and the next natural step in furthering my career. It’s been so exciting to be involved in working with Eventa. I have had the freedom to put my own stamp on things for which I feel very grateful. I have learnt so much working here and it has been without a doubt the most significant year in my career so far.
Not many people know that I have a crippling fear of heights and that even going up to the top of the Gherkin gave me slight heebie-jeebies.
My worst experience at an event was last Christmas when it snowed and a few of the entertainers were unable to make it to the event. I wanted to cry. Luckily the client did understand and are still a very good client of ours now.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s that anything is possible if you want it badly enough and are prepared to work for it – it’s a cliché because it’s true.
The best event I’ve been involved in was a product launch in London – a very glitzy affair packed full of themed entertainment, dramatic theming and a hilarious compere. Everything went so smoothly and the client was delighted.
If I could do it all over again I would have taken more risks earlier on in my career.
The one thing I can’t stand is half-heartedness. If you’re going to do a job do it well.
Outside of work I spend my time enjoying all the delights that sunny Brighton has to offer.
If money were no object I would design my own unique venues across the globe, build them and host a plethora of fabulous international events.
The one event I will never miss is RSVP. It’s great for making new contacts, meeting new suppliers and discovering new venues.
The next 12 months will be challenging. This year will be vital in establishing the Eventa brand within the industry. I can’t wait.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be with someone on the ceremonies team for the London Olympics. It would be a dream to be involved in something of that scale.
If I ruled the event industry I would no doubt be a nervous wreck.
