Evans Cycles has appointed digital agency iCrossing to handle its social media activity, which includes the launch of a new blog called ‘Ride It’.
The blog will feature product information and insights from Evans Cycles’ cycling experts and mechanics. The company has more than 40 shops across the UK, offering bicycle repairs, fix it classes and delivery services, as well as selling a range of bikes, riding gear and cycling equipment.
The brand plans to engage the online cycling community with the blog through competitions and conversations on its forums. It has also recruited a customer panel to review new products.
Supporting Facebook and Twitter pages have been created to provide extra forums for the community and drive traffic to the blog.
Evans Cycles' online marketing manager Will Lockie said that it is using social media to get customers involved with the products it sells.
"We wanted to be able start having conversations with customers where they want, like on Facebook and Twitter," he said.
