ESSA attempts to create international business for its members

Industry association ESSA is to respond to member research by establishing partnerships that will allow its members to obtain crucial information on labour regulations, as well as networking with international buyers.

To help achieve this the association spent time at last weekend’s IFES meeting and AGM in Belgium.

ESSA Director Chris Skeith said: "One major theme contained in the responses to our membership survey was a desire to see ESSA explore how it may increase its international role. We have built an increased international role into our five-year strategy and these two events are the start of that process. From this fact finding mission we will be able to understand how we may be able to develop our role on an international basis and deliver increased benefits for members."

The IFES meeting gave an insight into what additional benefits may be afforded to ESSA members on an international basis including the inclusion in, and output from, a number of working groups that IFES proposed.

Skeith added: "From the initial meeting there appears to be a desire and need from international contractors and suppliers to find local partners to deliver their clients projects. The partnerships could work both ways reducing members risks, transportation and staff costs for overseas business, and result in new revenue streams for delivering partners business in the UK. "
