Emap signs 3G content deal with Hutchison

LONDON - FHM, Smash Hits and New Woman will be among the magazines supplying content to Hutchison 3G as part of a broadband deal Emap has signed with the mobile phone network.

The two-year deal puts an end to weeks of speculation after it was reported early last month that the two were in talks.

Hutchison has already signed a £35m deal with the Premier League, which will allow it to broadcast match highlights to third generation mobile phones.

Financial details of the Emap deal were not disclosed but it is expected to also include access to Emap's television content such as Kerrang! TV, Smash Hits TV and Kiss TV.

Hutchison 3G plans to to be the first third-generation mobile phone network to launch in the UK, but it faces a struggle to lure users away from the established networks. Users on 3G networks will be able to access video clips, high-speed internet and music through their handsets.
