Emap relaunches Car magazine with focus on website

LONDON - Emap Automotive has revamped its flagship motoring title Car as a feature-driven publication printed in a new 'square' format and made the magazine's online version the main source of news.

The reinvented issue of the monthly magazine will be the September edition, available now, along with a redesign for Car's website .

Emap said changes to the magazine aims to lift it into "an entirely different reading experience". In addition, almost 100 pages of price listings and the news section have been removed.

The elements that have been stripped from the magazines, such as breaking news, reportage pictures, searchable data and many interactive elements, have been moved to Car online, which will be updated daily and becoming the main source of news and information.

According to the publisher, the changes showcase its commitment to investing in its leading brands to give them a multi-platform presence and deliver consumer experiences.

Jason Barlow, Car's editor, said: "The focus of this ground-breaking reinvention is for the magazine to play to its strengths by delivering incisive magazine craft, fearless journalism, acerbic opinion and stunning photography."
