Elmwood redesigns Polyfilla range

LONDON - ICI Paints brand Polycell is updating its Polyfilla range this month with new packaging designed by Elmwood.

The new packs feature a colour-coded system that better identifies different types of products: pale cyan represents the core multi-purpose products; blue represents task-specific; brown represents woodcare; and green represents exterior.

The non-core multi-purpose products feature illustrations to further enable customers to choose the right product for the job required.

James Bruce, Polycell brand manager, said: "Elmwood has produced a range of practical design solutions that contemporise the Polycell brand while remaining true to our heritage.

"The new colour coding and illustrations, coupled with more consistent and stronger branding, create great standout and clear and simple product differentiation."

Elmwood was appointed back in November 2006 to redesign Polycell's brand architecture with the aim of making it easier for customers to navigate the considerable product range in store.

Torben Dunn, group design director at Elmwood, said: "Previously, customers had difficulty understanding and navigating the large range of products and formats that were available. They were confronted by a sea of blue and white packaging with differing naming hierarchies and were uncertain about which products to choose for the job in hand.

"The colour coding is a very clear and visible way of segmenting the types of products and the illustrations add more specific visual cues for the product's purpose."
