The procession on 30 December sold out of torches, reaching its highest ever number of 6,500 sold. The torchlight procession was led by five pipe bands to a bonfire burning an effigy representing this year’s theme of Let’s Play.

An estimated 80,000 people celebrated the New Year at the street party, the sell-out Concert in the Gardens and outdoor Keilidh dance on 31 December.

Twenty four acts performed across seven stages at the three events, including Scottish rockers Primal Scream and Bombay Bicycle Club.

Nearly six tonnes of fireworks were used in the midnight firework display over Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill in the longest display in Hogmanay’s 19 year history.

Up to 20,000 people are estimated to have watched the celebrations streamed live online for the first time.
