Ebiquita goes into administration

LONDON - Administrators have been called in by data company Ebiquita after its owners decided the business was not viable.

The administrator Tenon Recovery yesterday issued this statement: "The owners acted extremely responsibly in putting the company into adminstration as soon as it became apparent it was not viable without significant further investment.

"The decision follows an intensive period of close examination into the prospects for the company in a challenging marketplace. The administrators will now try to find a buyer for the business or any of its constituent parts."

No one was answering calls at Ebiquita's office and Ebiquita's press officer was not able to provide further information.

It is believed that 37 jobs are in the balance, on top of 10 redundancies announced last week by group CEO Neil Rotherham. Those included the departure of managing director Andy Taylor.

The redundancies were part of a restructure intended to take Ebiquita further into online data processing and away from bureau services.

Ebiquita was known as Marketphone until 2002 when it rebranded after three years in business.
