The agency will provide search engine optimisation services for the electricals giant, creating defined natural search strategies for each of the three brands. The aim is to drive online revenue, as well as integrate the activity with other digital and offline marketing.

Steak picked up the account following a four-way pitch against undisclosed agencies. There is, however, no incumbent on the account.

David Walmsley, eCommerce director at DSGi, said: "As part of our strategy to win on the internet and take DSGi's multichannel business to the next level, it is vital for us to build a stronger search presence."

DSGi in the UK witnessed a like-for-like sales decline of 3%, with group sales, which cover the Nordics and other international regions, up 2%.

In the UK, M&C Saatchi handles DSGi's advertising for its retail brands, with Walker Media handling media planning and buying.
