In a statement, THQ said the deal was a long-term one that will see the long-running cartoon made by the Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox given a new lease of interactive life.
It is not the first such deal signed. There have already been games made from 'The Simpsons', including the 2001 flop 'The Simpsons Wrestling' on the PlayStation One and 'The Simpsons Road Rage' on the PS2.
However, the deal with THQ is more wide reaching and THQ will begin, not with games, but with wireless products with the first shipping in the third quarter.
Doug Dyer, the general manager of THQ Wireless, told Reuters: "The fact that it is in so many countries and so many languages, we think this will be pretty successful for us."
'The Simpsons', which has just celebrated its 300th episode over a 12-year run, could be developed into an entire package of games, sounds and logos based on themes from the show.
