Disney beefs up European operations

LONDON - Disney has made several new appointments to its European business following the integration of its channel and programme sales teams.

From April, sales teams from Disney Channel, sports broadcaster ESPN and programming sales operation Disney-ABC International Television are to form one group, with three sub-teams in channel distribution, programme distribution and new media.

Jim Brehm, senior vice-president of sales, EMEA, will be leaving at the end of this month to relocate to Los Angeles after two years with Disney-ABC International Television. His role is to be restructured into two new positions covering the North and South of Europe.

Catherine Powell (pictured), currently Disney-ABC International Television's vice-president of sales for UK/Ireland, Nordic, Israel and Benelux, is to take up the role of senior vice- president, programme distribution, EMEA (North).

Francesca Tauriello has been appointed senior vice-president, programme distribution, EMEA (South), to lead programme sales activity in markets such as Italy, Spain, Central and Eastern Europe, and Turkey.

Meanwhile, Maria Kyriacou, currently vice-president, portfolio development, EMEA, has been appointed senior vice-president of new-media distribution, EMEA and Canada.
