Digit hires Crispin Porter's Tripas for New York move

LONDON - WPP-owned digital design agency Digit has poached Crispin Porter + Bogusky's Rob Tripas to head its new office in New York.

Tripas was executive producer of interactive at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, and was part of the team that created the famous "subservient chicken" campaign for Burger King.

Digit will work with Crispin Porter + Bogusky after the agency is established, along with WPP-owned agencies including Berlin Cameron/Red Cell, Enterprise IG and JWT.

Andy Chambers, who co-founded Digit with Daljit Singh, said that the move in the US had been driven by client need, including that of Motorola, which is headquartered in Chicago.

"Our clients have encouraged us to build a presence in the US to provide broader levels of support so it was a natural step for us to take. Finding a creative entrepreneur like Rob clinched the deal and we are very excited to be trading in New York," he said

As well as Burger King, Tripas has worked on campaigns for Virgin Atlantic, Coca-Cola, Gap and Victoria's Secret among others. Prior to joining Crispin Porter + Bogusky, he was creative director at Yahoo! and he led a creative team at AOL.

The New York office of Digit is opening with three staff, and should have doubled that number by the beginning of 2006.

"Daljit Singh is a globally renowned creative leader and his team are true innovators in the digital space. We hope to use this excellence and experience as a stepping stone to help brands that we work with become better immersed in and reflective of the multi-channel world we live in," Tripas said.
