DfT traps man in pint glass for drink drive campaign

LONDON - The Department for Transport trapped a man in a giant pint glass at London's Paddington Station this morning as part of its Christmas campaign against drink driving.

Lime, part of the Leo Burnett Group, produced the 7ft tall replica pint glass with a man "trapped" inside to show how drinking and driving can come between you and Christmas.

The glass will tour the country over the next 10 days to highlight the dire consequences of drinking and driving.

Ex-offender Luke Noon, who lost his licence, his girlfriend and his job when he was caught over the limit, is spending some time inside the pint glass to help get the message out to would-be drink drivers.

Noon said: "After losing my licence last December and gaining a criminal record I lost my girlfriend and my job and it has been much harder to go out to meet my mates like I used to. Losing my licence changed my life completely."

The 'Man in a pint glass' will be on display at Leeds Briggate Street, Manchester Exchange Square, Liverpool Bold Street, London Liverpool Street Station and Birmingham Bullring Centre in the run up to Christmas.

More people are stopped and breathalysed in December than at any other time of the year and the UK's penalties for drink driving are among the toughest in Europe.
