Our Greatest Team Parade will start at 1.30pm at Mansion House. It will pass along Queen Victoria Street and Cannon Street towards St Paul’s Cathedral and then progress via Fleet Street and the Strand to Trafalgar Square.
The 21 floats will be organised by sport, and each carry around 40 athletes.
A big screen at the base of Nelson's Column will allow spectators to cheer on the athletes as the parade makes its way past Trafalgar Square. The parade will then enter Admiralty Arch and The Mall down to the Queen Victoria Memorial for its final stretch.
This will be a ticketed area for groups who have made a contribution to the Games, including 14,000 volunteers, military personnel, coaches and support staff.
The Prime Minister will also host an event to recognise the achievements of the athletes. More details will be released nearer to the time.
Extensive road closures around the route will be in place throughout the morning and until after the parade passes through Trafalgar Square.
The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "No sporting heroes will have been more lauded, no achievements more celebrated, and no nation more passionately proud than at the Our Greatest Team Parade, which will sweep through central London in a glorious miasma of colour, noise and excitement."
Andy Hunt, Team GB chef de mission and chief executive of the British Olympic Association, added: "The Our Greatest Team Parade provides a fantastic opportunity for the nation to recognise and celebrate the special achievements of the outstanding group of athletes who represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2012 Games. The Parade route will pass by some of London’s most iconic locations and will be a fitting and exciting final journey for Our Greatest Team."
