De Vere Group is part-owned by Lloyds Banking Group. The sale is expected to help "pay down the debt" of around £1.1bn it owes, according to a spokesman.

Tony Dangerfield, chief executive of De Vere Venues, said: "We're delighted to announce Altitude London as our latest management contract. This spectacular group of venues further strengthens our diverse venue offering in the capital."

Justin Etzin, owner of Altitude London, added: "We have every confidence that Altitude London's meeting and events proposition will go from strength to strength with the support of De Vere Venues’ market leading brand."
