The show fronted by former BBC One presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley, who both made a well publicised move earlier this year, recorded an audience of less than 600,000 between 6am and 8.30am, equating to a 17.8% share.
BBC One’s morning show, known as ‘Breakfast’, had an average audience of 1.38 million between 6am and 9.15am, a 35.5% share of the TV watching audience.
However, ‘Daybreak’’s share of TV viewers was an improvement from Friday (22 October) when the programme had an audience of 646,000 but a share of only 16.7% of the audience.
A spokesman for ITV said: "Daybreak's share of audience went up yesterday despite the half-term break this week, which characteristically sees a drop in breakfast audience."
Last Monday (18 October) ‘Daybreak’ had an average audience of 710,800 between 6am and 8.30am, an 18.4% share of the TV watching audience.
When questioned about media speculation that ITV was looking to replace Bleakley and Chiles, a spokesman for ITV said it is not planning any presenter changes.
At primetime, ‘Spooks’ won its weekly battle against ITV1’s ‘Whitechapel' with an average audience of 5.13 million between 9pm and 10pm, a 20.7% share of the TV watching audience.
‘Whitechapel’, which follows a serial killer mimicking the Kray brothers, had an average audience of 4.84 million on ITV1 and ITV1 HD, a 19.6% share of the TV watching audience.
