CWDC appoints Red C to attract early years professionals

LONDON - The Children's Workforce Development Council has appointed Red C to help recruit candidates to become early years professionals through direct marketing.

The appointment follows a three-way pitch managed by the Central Office of Information.

Red C's first campaign, which launches this month, will target early years employers in nurseries and daycare settings through direct mail, inserts in the nursery press and online channels.

It will form part of a longer term strategy to achieve the Government's target of one EYP in every childcare setting by 2015.

Early years professional status can be attained by graduates who work with children aged 0-5 years-old. The first graduates were accredited in February 2007 and currently 700 people have successfully achieved the status.

The Government target follows research, which revealed that the earlier graduates are involved with children the better the developmental outcomes.

Red C will work closely with Claire Hamilton, CWDC communications officer, and COI's direct and relationship marketing team to develop a CRM programme of tailored communications to employers.

Janice Collins, head of communications at CWDC, said: "We were impressed by Red C's understanding of our aims and objectives, and look forward to working with them on this campaign."

Julian Gratton, creative director at Red C, said: "By combining our strategic, creative and direct marketing expertise, we'll be able to create a suite of effective marketing materials to promote EYPs and therefore make a positive impact on the lives of children."
