CreditExpert sponsors Bennett Arron's Edinburgh show

LONDON - CreditExpert.co.uk, the online credit monitoring service owned by data specialist Experian, has taken the unusual step of sponsoring an award-winning comedian's show at The Edinburgh Festival.

Stand-up comic Bennett Arron's show 'It Wasn't Me, It Was Bennett Arron' is a humorous account of what it is like to become a victim of identity theft, in which he gives tips on how to prevent becoming one.

CreditExpert.co.uk is using the show to promote its services, which can protect people against identity theft by alerting them to significant changes to their credit reports. The brand's logo will feature on posters and programmes for the show.

"It is not every day in business that one finds the opportunity to support an artistic initiative with such relevance," Jim Hodgkins, CreditExpert.co.uk's managing director, said. "Bennett Arron's new show offers an hilarious account of his experience with identity theft and also helps to raise the profile of this unpleasant crime, which is unfortunately increasingly common."

Arron's show makes its Edinburgh debut today at The Underbelly and runs until August 12. A spokeswoman for CreditExpert.co.uk said that the the company is considering extending the sponsorship deal beyond its stay in the Scottish capital.

Described by the BBC as a Welsh Seinfeld, Arron is the only Welsh Jewish comedian on the comedy circuit.

CreditExpert.co.uk was launched by Experian in 2003 and was the first UK service of its kind. It alerts subscribers to changes on their credit report online or via SMS.

Credit theft is the UK's fastest growing crime. More than 120,000 cases were detected in 2004, at a cost of about 拢1.34bn.
