The Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation told Event many corporates hadn’t contributed to funding the , despite holding events along the route.

A spokesperson for the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation, which is running the pageant, said: "It’s a great shame that many British companies have not felt able to contribute to the pageant, despite so many of them hosting corporate events on the river during the day.

"This has meant that some of the burden of fundraising has had to be met by private individuals in the UK and overseas, and it is these generous benefactors - together with a handful of companies - which has kept our fund-raising effort on track."

The pageant on 3 June will celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign. It is expected to cost £10.5 million and will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river, stretching an estimated twelve and a half miles through the centre of London.

The spokesperson stressed that the pageant would go ahead and was not under threat. They said: "We are determined that these challenges will not detract from what will be a tremendous day of national and international celebration."
