Conde Nast's internet arm hires MSN director

LONDON - CondeNet International, the digital arm of magazine publisher Conde Nast, has appointed Stefano Maruzzi, the director of international strategy and content at Microsoft's MSN, to the newly created role of president.

Maruzzi, who will report directly to Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Conde Nast International, will be in charge of the development of CondeNet International's portfolio of 58 websites and all new media activity conducted by the company in territories outside the US.

He will also be responsible for spearheading the development of new products and markets across the company from his post in Milan, and will serve on the executive committee of Conde Nast International.

Maruzzi worked for MSN for seven years, first as Italy's country manager between 2000 and 2006, and then, from January 2006, as director of international strategy and content. From 1996 to 1999 he was in charge of its Italian publisher Mondadori's book division.

He is also the author of a number of books on the computer industry and is a media commentator for magazines in Italy.

Conde Nast International said Maruzzi was chosen for his experience in the print and online industry, and "proven ability and outstanding reputation" across the sector.
