Last Monday (7 September) Event reported that

Olpin said that the website differs from its competitors in that featured venues are chosen by virtue of their unique offering, and many are not ordinarily open for events.

"[They] are a little more creative – a little less ordinary. On the list are historic spaces only a handful of people know about. There are also contemporary venues that you can transform in any which way you please and many private rooms that will require no theming or production at all.

"Venueseeker Black is the event compass for unconventional spaces in London and beyond. The inquisitive cousin of Venueseeker, Venueseeker Black lists spaces that to the regular eye might go unnoticed. Spaces of all sizes and shapes. Spaces that excite, inspire creativity and go against the norm," she added.

Concerto Group has devised a criteria of sorts, to ensure users of the website have access to truly left-of-centre venues.

"To be listed on Venueseeker Black a space needs to be dramatic, inspiring and somewhat secretive. Our venue selection will always cover a wide range of categories, including undiscovered spaces across the UK that the events industry is yet to hear about," said Olpin.

"We approach owners of potential spaces prior to listing, so we are always able to bring clients new venues which are not ordinarily commercially available, or advertised."

In terms of the layout of the website, venues will be categorised based on their offering, with spaces curated around particular themes depending on the time of year.

"We only have a certain number of venues listed at any one time. All venues will change each month, with several new venues being added every week," Olpin explained.

"The listed venues fall under categories such as private dining rooms, cinemas and theatres, restaurants, nightclubs and more, but will also include themed seasonal venue selections, such as Christmas venues."

Olpin added there are plans to expand upon Concerto Group’s Venueseeker Visits series, where clients are granted opportunities to explore potential venues before work, by developing a similar offering for Venueseeker Black.

Venueseeker Black officially launches on Friday (18 September) during a breakfast party at Cereal Killer Café in east London.
