Comedy club Jongleurs unveils debut SMS joke service

LONDON - Jongleurs is teaming up with European mobile marketing company MindMatics to launch the comedy club's first SMS subscription service, Joke of the Day.

The service will send users a joke tailored to their comedy tastes and also enter them in a fortnightly draw for free tickets to one of the 17 Jongleurs clubs throughout the UK.

The campaign is being launched in early September and users on Jongleurs' existing customer database will be invited to sign up.

"We've had considerable success with the brand since we launched, and we feel that this campaign will help us to develop brand recognition with our target audience even further," Jongleurs chairman John Davy said.

"SMS is an excellent medium for a campaign of this nature -- in choosing to run this opt-in service with MindMatics, we know that we are achieving high brand-visibility with our customers without the wastage of general advertising or the irritation of spam," he added.

Jongleurs has been running since 1983 and attracts audiences to its clubs, tours and events at arts shows, in the UK and internationally.

Geoff Morley, commercial director of MindMatics, said: "This is an ideal example of SMS facilitating targeted, personalised campaigns, giving marketers direct and valuable customer access."
