Greenwood, who joined the agency with creative partner Mark Blanchard in 2003, will take responsibility for overseeing art direction across the creative department.
He will continue to report to creative director Bob Nash and will work with a range of clients including Porsche, Beneficial and the RSPB.
Greenwood began his career in 1980 as art director at Masius. He teamed up with Blanchard in 1996 where they worked together on Mitsubishi and Somerfield. In 1999, the pair became creative directors of Creative Partnership Marketing.
The agency has recently acquired a presence in the north after parent company marketing services group Media Square rebranded Banc Leeds as Clark McKay & Walpole North.
Clark McKay & Walpole was bought by Media Square in September 2004 joining Banc, which was acquired in 2003.
Bob Nash, creative director of Clark McKay & Walpole, said: "Mark has superb big-brand experience and performs with ease across the disciplines. With his rigour of thinking, he will play a vital role in improving our already high standard of craft and art direction.
"Moreover, he's a natural people person and acts as an excellent role model and mentor to junior members of the department."
