Sime Darby, S P Setia and the Employees Provident Fund officially acquired the iconic London venue yesterday (4 July) after an international bidding process, which included Chelsea FC's proposal to turn the building into a 60,000-seater stadium.
The site will now be developed into a mixture of residential and commercial property units, retaining the derelict power station's distinctive towers. There is no mention of event spaces in the plans.
The venue currently holds events in its Boiler House space run by Industri Management. after Battersea Power Station went up for sale in early December 2011.
Party organiser Best Parties Ever is holding 1920s themed Christmas parties at The Boiler House this year. It told Event the parties would definitely proceed despite the sale.
A spokesperson said: "Battersea Power Station has been in the hands of official receivers, Ernst and Young for over six months now and the venue continues to hold a whole calendar of events, functions and parties. Please rest assured that Best Parties Ever has a legal and binding contract in place with the receivers that guarantees it has use of Battersea Power Station for the 2012 Christmas party period. There is therefore no doubt whatsoever that these parties will proceed."
