Cheapflights hires Opodo's Taylor to head marketing

LONDON - Former Opodo country manager Jenny Taylor has joined the website Cheapflights.co.uk as its first head of marketing.

She is a veteran of the airline marketing industry, having worked as sales and marketing manager interactive for the budget airline Go, now owned by EasyJet, and before that as e-commerce manager for KLM in the UK.

At , she will charged with developing syndication deals, opening new marketing channels for the business and coordinating the overall marketing strategy for the site, particularly focusing on search engine marketing, both free and pay-per-click.

Cheapflights offers links to flights, hotels and other travel needs provided by partners, without selling any tickets itself. It is one of the biggest travel sites in the UK, with traffic during the March to May period rising by 62% compared with the previous year, despite the Sars outbreak and the war in Iraq.

David Soskin, CEO of Cheapflights, said: "Jenny's industry knowledge and contacts will make a very important contribution to driving our business and traffic forward."

Taylor joined Opodo at the beginning of 2001 as country manager for the UK, overseeing all the marketing activity.
