Next month, the exhibition 'Famous Beyond Words' will be launched, exploring Shakespeare's work in detail and taking visitors on a journey back through time.
A firework display will also take place from the top of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, following an evening performance on 23 April, Shakespeare's birthday.
Festivities in the town itself will start on the weekend of the 26 and 27 April, with a 1,000-strong parade through the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, alongside street entertainment and activities organised by The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). This will include stage fighting workshops and the chance to see how fake scars and bruises are created.
A range of other events, exhibitions and theatre productions celebrating the playwright's legacy are also planned for the rest of the year, and will be run by the RSC and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
