Carat and ClarityBlue students win IDM top marks

LONDON - Two IDM diploma students in direct and interactive marketing, who achieved highest marks in their categories, have been awarded trips to the headquarters of Acxiom and Google's headquarters in the US.

Vanessa Sanford, media executive at Carat, won the IDM diploma in direct and interactive marketing, will visit the corporate HQ of Acxiom in Little Rock, Arkansas, and spend a further three days visiting a US city of her choice.

Marie Myles, principal customer intelligence consultant at ClarityBlue, won the IDM diploma in digital marketing, receives a two-day trip to San Francisco, and will visit Google's headquarters in Googleplex, Mountain View, Santa Clara.

Sanford said: "I admit that the course was hard work at times, but it was enormously valuable and I found that most of what I learned could be put into practice on a daily basis."

Myles and Sanford's award ceremony also marked the 20th year of IDM graduates, and they were joined by former students, which total 7,000 people.

Myles said: "I now have an appreciation of the value and role of digital in the media mix and how so many of the principles that I am very familiar with in traditional offline channels are applied in digital media.

"My new found knowledge will be put to great use in the development of ClarityBlue's interactive strategy and new propositions."

Former IDM graduates include: Julian Brewer, head of online marketing and content at Barclays Bank; Mike Tildesley, director of PR and marketing at Direct Line; and Stuart Archibald, partner at Archibald Ingall Stretton.
