Capscan opens in Scotland to tap call centre boom

LONDON - Capscan, a leading provider of UK and international address management software, has opened an Edinburgh office to capitalise on the increasing amount of foreign direct investment in Scotland's rising call centre sector, which boasts 170 call centres, employing more than 28,500 people.

As the second biggest financial centre in Europe, Edinburgh is increasingly being used as a gateway by domestic and foreign multinational companies to other North European markets, according to Graham Bell, a spokesman for Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.

Edinburgh-based Bank of Scotland is already a long-term Capscan customer. The new Capscan office is headed by Scottish business development manager David Lister, who joins from rival QAS.

Capscan's flagship product, Matchcode, provides companies with a clean and postally accurate database and is available as a standalone programme for data capture, a web-based tool for online addressing and for batch cleansing of databases.
