Pennington has been with Capital for eight years, most recently as sales manager for interactive, and before that she was an executive on the network sales team.
She becomes head of sponsorship, promotions and interactive in the group sales department and will work alongside Nick Hewat, head of group sales. Both will report to a yet-to-be-appointed group sales director.
Sutherland becomes head of brand sales for the Capital Gold Network, Century FM Network, Xfm and Choice FM and will also be responsible for a team looking after advertisers in the entertainment sector.
Sutherland has been with Capital for seven years, most recently as agency sales manager. She will work alongside Alison Finch, head of brand sales for the Capital FM network, Newslink and Hit 40 UK. They both report to brand sales director Mike Hope-Milne.
The overhaul at Capital's sales teams is the first since Linda Grant was promoted to managing director of national sales London in April and sees the team split into brand sales, group sales and commercial marketing.
The group has split its commercial operation into three divisions aimed at providing greater opportunities for advertisers across its radio stations throughout the UK and improving its relationship with agencies.
