The overhaul is the first since Linda Grant was promoted to managing director of national sales London last month and sees the team split into brand sales, group sales and commercial marketing.
It aims to break down Capital's offering to allow advertisers and agencies to place ads more effectively across its network.
"Within the ever more complex communications planning process, it is essential that agencies and advertisers are fully informed on the attributes, benefits and opportunities that individual brand environments can deliver," Grant said.
Mike Hope-Milne has been promoted to the role of brand sales director from head of sponsorship and promotions. He will head up the brand sales team, which offers brand-led opportunities across its operations.
Alison Finch will head up brand sales across the Capital FM Network, Newslink and Hit40UK, while a head of brand sales for Xfm, Choice, Century and Gold is to be hired.
Grant is looking to appoint a group sales director. The group sales team will sell airtime, sponsorship, promotions and interactive opportunities across the group's portfolio of brands, stations and properties.
Nick Hewat remains as head of group sales and will report to the new group sales director. A head of sponsorship, promotions and interactive is also being sought to work alongside Hewat.
Grant believes that by breaking down the sales team it will help simplify the booking process by showing advertisers what opportunities are available to them.
"Media-neutral planning can only be neutral if you truly understand your options –- either within brands or within various disciplines such as sponsorship and promotion, and airtime," she said.
The sales teams will be supported by a commercial marketing team, providing research, commercial marketing, external promotions and strategic sales support.
"It's a challenge for media owners to deliver a genuinely customer-centric structure, one which offers ease of access and ease of buying with depth of knowledge and depth of delivery. I believe we have achieved that and with the team fully behind it we will go from strength to strength," she said.
