Grant, who joined Capital in January 2002, takes the new role of commercial managing director, London. This follows the promotion last week of Chris Bennett, previously Capital's director of national sales, to a role as commercial development director.
Grant will run advertising sales for 80% of Capital's radio turnover. Her role covers the four radio brands Capital FM Network, Capital Gold Network, Xfm and Century FM Network.
Bennett moved this week to the commercial development role in an attempt to generate revenues from new sources. Grant, who originally joined Capital in a marketing role to build closer links with advertisers and agencies, will now take charge of agency sales, sponsorship and promotions, client sales, commercial marketing and group research.
Grant, who was Metro's marketing director before joining Capital, reports to Linda Smith, Capital's group commercial director. Smith said: "Since Linda joined us a year ago from Metro, she has brought a different perspective to the business, underpinned by 14 very successful years in sales, trade and consumer marketing and strategic development roles."
Recent initiatives overseen by Grant include a decision to employ a creative development director to work with agencies and advertisers on developing better radio creative. An appointment has yet to be made.
Grant said: "There's a lot to talk about innovation in this business, driven by the client's need to differentiate to increase sales. We will put that client focus at the centre of our business."
