Capital hires group strategist for music download move

LONDON - Capital Radio is looking to break into the music download business with the appointment of Sean Keller, former head of customer insights at T-Mobile UK, to a new role of director of consumer understanding.

Reporting to Capital Radio strategy and development director Nathalie Schwarz, Keller will head a team of nine looking at programming strategy and building new relationships with listeners in areas such as music downloading.

Keller will work across all Capital Radio's brands, including London station Xfm, Choice FM and Century FM. His remit is expected to carry across the GWR stations when the proposed merger of the two radio groups is finalised, probably this spring.

GWR has developed a technology, branded Hear It, Buy It, Burn It, allowing listeners to legally download songs it broadcasts.
