Workforce Acorn has been created using the 2001 Census and the latest lifestyle data.
As with the original version of Acorn, the product categorises the UK population into one of five categories, which break down further into 17 groups and 58 types.
John Rae, director of business development at CACI, said: "This product is a powerful tool for analysing the demographic make-up of employment catchment areas. High volumes of workers are of significant interest to retailers, and Workforce Acorn will allow accurate, targeted profiling of these regions, allowing profitable planning decisions to be made."
CACI says that Workforce Acorn will be particularly appealing to retailers because it says its research has shown that around 15% of retail spend comes from workers shopping during their lunch break
In particular, this relates to the sale of food and drink, leisure, books, newspapers, cosmetics and over the counter medicines, as well as luxury items such as golf clubs and computers.
Last month CACI launched a new email address product eAppend, which offers access to more than 8m active, up-to-date and fully opted-in customer email addresses.
