C4 gives old bands another chance in reality TV show

LONDON – Channel 4 is to give old bands another chance in 'Bands Reunited', which features old groups getting together for a one-off performance including 80s band 'Frankie Goes to Hollywood' and defunct teen band 'New Kids on the Block'.

The show's yet-to-be-named host will travel across the UK surprising band members and reuniting them with their bandmates.

Mixed reactions are to be expected from the stars, with some welcoming the chance to relive their heyday while others would prefer to keep it in the past.

The hour-long episodes will air in a primetime slot from next year. The show is based on US VH1 show of the same name.

Channel 4 has commissioned independent production company Zeal TV, which also looks after the international rights to 'The Pepsi Chart Show' to make the show.

Andrew Mackenzie, commissioning editor for factual, said: "We're really pleased to be working with Zeal TV to create a show that gives us a fresh and exciting way of tapping into popular nostalgia."

The American series has already attracted New Kids on the Block, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC, Klymaxx, Extreme, Haircut 100 and Berlin, who sang the 'Top Gun' theme 'Take My Breath Away'.
