Burberry unveils fragrance campaign starring Rachel Weisz

LONDON - Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Weisz has been signed as the face of Burberry's latest fragrance launch, appearing in a print campaign to promote the scent, photographed by Mario Testino.

Weisz appears in the campaign for Burberry London with fellow British actor Ioan Gruffudd.

The ad shows black-and-white scenes of famous London landmarks including the London Eye and Big Ben and pictures of Weisz and Gruffudd embracing and walking hand in hand.

The campaign was unveiled this week, after Burberry revealed it had had a strong Christmas, with sales up by 11% to 拢115m for the quarter ending December 31. Television advertising, a first for the brand, is to appear next month.

It has also been a good week for Weisz, who was awarded a Golden Globe on Monday night for best supporting actress in a drama for her performance in the film 'The Constant Gardener'.

Weisz, who is five months pregnant, was signed up by Burberry for the fragrance after the Kate Moss cocaine scandal broke last autumn. Moss had previously promoted Burberry fragrances.

The fashion label signed Weisz because it was looking for "a real British beauty". Other films she has appeared in include 'The Mummy', 'About a Boy' and 'Constantine'.
