Going online are Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Mallorca, meaning that Brits heading to Spain for some sunshine will now be able to check out the local fish and chip shop, karaoke bar or sea-view hotel before booking.
From the ridiculous to the sublime, the Street View service also includes images from the famous religious pilgrims route of Camino de Santiago. It runs from Auritz in Spain to Finisterre in France, taking in places such as Pamplona an Santo Domingo de la Calzada.
As with other Google Maps and Street View services, tourists can also get driving instructions to help them prepare a route before they set out. Local businesses can benefit by embedding Google Maps in their sites without any charge, making it easier for customers to find their nearest hotel or nightclub.
Other places that have just gone live on Street View include 30 towns in the Netherlands; Hawaii, the last US state to be included; and five cities in Mexico.
