The event will see up to 30 of Britain's top chief executives sleeping rough for one night in London's Paternoster Square, to raise funds and highlight awareness of the plight of the country's young homeless.

The event is the brainchild of Michael Tobin, chief executive of Telecity Group, who has invited business leaders to brave the cold for one night. Action for Children’s incoming chief executive, Sir Tony Hawkhead, will also take up the challenge as one of his first duties in the new job.

He will be joined by John Hardie, ITN chief executive; Tim Griffin, Dell UK vice president; and Matthew Ponsonby, Barclays Investment Banking Division chief operating officer amongst others in Paternoster Square, in front of the London Stock Exchange, on Thursday 27 March.

Sherine Krause, executive director of fundraising and communications at Action for Children, said: "Having some of the country’s top business leaders supporting our work is inspiring and the money raised on this night will ensure that we are able to support more of the country’s most vulnerable young people in order to change their lives."

Tobin added it is important that the UK’s business leaders use their positions to highlight the issues affecting young people.

Action for Children works directly with more than 300,000 children, young people, parents and carers each year.
