Two of Bournemouth's major event venues are back to "business as usual" today despite suffering damage in yesterday's torrential downpour (18 August).

The Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) suffered a burst rainwater pipe causing damage to a corridor area, but managed to keep its current exhibitions and RAWK Ice Skating Rink open.

The Bournemouth Pavilion's Theatre Bar also suffered ceiling damage due to a burst pipe, but will still go ahead with its Rio Summer Ball and performance of Dreamcoats and Petticoats tonight.

BIC operations manager Pete Woods praised staff for their quick response: "All staff responded immediately and very quickly had the situation under control, ensuring business continuity and no interruption of events for our customers and passers-by seeking refuge from the rain."
