Boots unveils Christmas push with multi-tasking women

LONDON - Beautiful women multi-task between normal festive duties and making themselves look good in Boots' Christmas television advertising campaign.

Created by Mother, the TV spot, which breaks on Wednesday, follows the women working their way through festive duties such as stuffing the turkey while applying blood red nail varnish to expensive talons, and soaking in the bath while peeling Brussel sprouts. It aims to highlight how women manage to look glamorous at Christmas while carrying out the shopping and cooking.

This is the first UK TV ad to be directed by celebrity photographer David LaChappelle, who has directed the 'Dirrty' video for Christina Aguilera and shot the ad campaign and promos for 'Desperate Housewives'.

The ad, which was shot in Barcelona with a team of 105, took over 18 hours to film. The turkey scene alone took a whole day and more than 120 kilos of Brussel sprouts were used in the bath scene.

Andy Brent, marketing director of Boots, said: "Women are extraordinary during the Christmas period, working hard to ensure everybody around them is happy. We want to bring some glamour into their lives this Christmas and remind them to take time out for themselves to look and feel special too."

Danon Collins, creative director at Mother, said: "The campaign continues where our work for Boots this summer left off. It's based on the insight that at Christmas, the women do everything, from shopping to cooking to wrapping. All the while aspiring to look gorgeous for the year's number one party season.

"We worked with David LaChapelle to create something the viewer hadn't seen before, forcing them to think differently about Boots."

Media was brokered through WPP Group's MediaCom.
