The educational campaign centres on a dedicated site which encourages pupils to get outdoors while staying safe in the sun. The Soltan Sun Ready site contains resources including lesson plans for school subjects such as Geography, PE, English, Science and PSHE.
Registered primary schools will also receive free ‘Explorer packs’ from Boots containing sun cream samples, notebooks and hats. Pupils can also compete to be the UK’s ‘most prepared adventurous explorer’ for a chance to experience an adventure brought to life using interactive theatre.
The drive has been launched with specialist education agency EdComs and follows Boots UK’s Soltan education programme last year, which saw 1,000 schools sign up for the free packs in the first 24 hours.
Boots UK’s head of brand and innovation, Amber Kirby, said: "With proven links between childhood sunburn and increased risk of melanoma, we know that sun safety for children is incredibly important, and at Boots Soltan we want to make a real difference.
"The ‘Soltan Sun Ready’ schools programme will give children and parents the knowledge about how to be sun ready, and enjoy the sun and their summer holidays; creating healthy sun safe habits that will last a lifetime".
