Newly appointed venue director, Rebecca Cardozo, and Bluewater general manager, Andrew Parkinson, were joined by the Mayor of Dartford to see the Golden Bolt placed in one of the first section’s of the 5,200sqm venue’s steel structure, where it will be permanently cited to mark the occasion.

Once complete, it is hoped the venue will become a mecca for retail and leisure-led events, shows and exhibitions that will complement Bluewater’s retail offer.

It will be directly accessed through the existing Water Circus, and will be centred around a 3,000sqm plaza.

"We are very proud to see the Bluewater Events Venue beginning to take shape. A fully integrated events venue remains true to Bluewater’s philosophy of enhancing guest experience through the constant evolution of the retail mix and the addition of complementary uses," said Parkinson.

"This unique development will allow us to provide the events and exhibition industry with a new breed of venue, whereby exhibitions and events are brought directly to our guests," added Cardozo.

The first events are due to take place late 2011.
