The case stems from suit brought by Liskula Cohen, a model who has appeared on the cover of Australian Vogue magazine and in ads for Versace. Initially Cohen went to court in a bid to get Google to reveal the name of the person behind an anonymous blog published via its Blogger network that had called Cohen "a psychotic, lying, whoring... skank".
The judge sided with Cohen and the blogger was revealed to be a 29-year-old woman called Rosemary Port. But far from backing down or apologising for the comments, Port now says that Cohen has defamed herself by bringing her initial lawsuit, because no-one else used to visit her 'Skanks in NYC' blog.
She told the New York Daily News. "This has become a public spectacle and a circus that is not my doing. By going to the press, she defamed herself.
"Before her suit, there were probably two hits on my website: one from me looking at it, and one from her looking at it."
She also blames Google for violating her privacy and told the newspaper she plans to sue for $15m (£9.11m), for breaching its fiduciary duty to protect her expectation of anonymity. Her lawyer has said he is prepared to take the case all the way to the federal courts.
For her part, Cohen had already said on the television programme Good Morning America that she has called Port and said she forgives her. However, she has not ruled out suing the blogger herself. Cohen said that she had seen Port, who is studying fashion, at various parties around town.
