'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' was only released in UK cinemas last August and Five plans to screen the US blockbuster in November before any of its pay-TV rivals.
The landmark deal is the largest ever struck between Five and Sony Pictures Television International. It includes the terrestrial premieres of 'Tears of the Sun', 'Bad Boys II', 'Daddy Day Care' and 'Maid in Manhattan'.
Five's US movies regularly secure more than 3m viewers. The channel is the only terrestrial broadcaster to deal with heavyweight distributors such as Warner Bros, MGM and Universal.
Jeff Ford, managing editor and director of acquisitions at Five, said: "This is a huge coup for the channel. Not only does this mean we will continue to be the leading terrestrial channel for blockbuster premieres, it also means Five's viewers will get to see some of 2003's biggest blockbusters only 15 months after their cinema release."
